What happens in the case of an electoral tie? (Ie, 269-269)?
In the event no candidate receives a majority of Electoral Vote (a), the House of Representatives picks the President, with each state delegation getting one vote, and (2) the Senate chooses the vice president. I'm not sure if DC gets to vote in the House. I think Dick Cheney, as President of the Senate gets to vote to break a tie. I do not know for sure, but I think Democrats control the majority of state delegations. And if the vote is deadlocked 25-25, I think we just keep voting until someone changes his mind. It is highly unlikely, but it could happen this year. PS: The answer below is incorrect – the House has one vote per delegation of the State – 50 votes.
