If you want to go somewhere and you really have the luxury experience, but not being chased by the paparazzi then I have a perfect island escape. Wakaya is popular star tycoons and movie and is on a private island in Fiji 2200 hectares owned by David Gilmore, founder of Fiji Water, a short trip in 40 minutes by private plane from the airport main land in Nadi.

There are only nine private cabanas with thatched roof straight out of a Ralph Lauren ad. Each private cabin romantic has a bar and lounge, a large bedroom with vaulted ceilings, desk, curiosities and published four king size bed (a real mattress and box springs, not what most the hotels on the island try to pass off as a bed) and a porch. There is a large bathroom with two sinks, large soaking tub and lava rock outdoors but totally private shower. No phone in room, only one in the lobby for emergencies, no TV, no newspapers, no computers ….. only very natural beauty.

The staff are all from Fiji, very polite, respectful of your privacy and happy to share their culture. Literally, it could be a change of clothes and week last one. Upon arrival they give you a beautiful sarong and each time left the room, returned to a complete replacement, cooled to room folded laundry waiting yesterday in bed.

You have the option of taking their meals in your private cabin Buras call or go to the main hall where you can sit in private or in community if things are too good for you. Results are visiting leaders from around the world. For a tour that I arranged to go to a private beach on the island. The staff prepared a beautiful lobster and champagne lunch and took us to a deserted part of the island and put up road blocks to close the roads to the beach. Hammocks on the beach where two large pillows filled with pristine as if turned the page to find another Ralph Lauren ad. There was a private bathroom, from size feared a latrine, but in crisp white linen towels hand and not a spider web on the site. As the sun was a huge cave of bats flying high above our heads. It is both the snorkeling and diving available.

There is a glass cabin in the forest of coconut with a modern gym. Wakaya offers a small field nine-hole golf course (not for serious golfers) and a spa offering a 4-way manual, and up to 10 hand massage along with several other amenities. There is a beautiful swimming pool a rock water – source. Wakaya is an all inclusive price, except for the spa, which is additional. There is no limit to the food and the bar is a balance with all the best brands. Even my day at the private beach is included everyone. When I say all inclusive, not to be confused with the budget. It is the perfect setting to decompress luxury.
