Last week my family and I went on our summer vacation. Because times are tough skipped the usual places, such as Disney Vacation, Florida and Mexico and stayed in our own state of Colorado. We went to Steamboat Springs, which is about 200 miles northwest of Denver. Steamboat Springs is well known Ski Town USA as in the winter but offers a lot of things to do with his family in the summer. By choosing to stay in Colorado saved us a lot of money and still had some quality time with family.
We stayed in a timeshare resort called Worldmark by Wyndham, which is located just off Highway 40 in the base of the mountain slopes. If you do not have access to a timeshare, there are plenty of accommodation in Steamboat from hotels to condo rentals. Because Summer is the off-season, many of these accommodations are very affordable.
Steamboat Springs is a beautiful mountain town with incredible scenery and wonders natural. If you are on a budget there are many things to do that are very affordable.
Trying to stay on a budget we decided to devote part of our time, bicycling as a family. We also decided to bring our own bikes to save more money. If you have a motorcycle or not want to bring your own, there are several places in the steamer that will rent a bike to bike one or even a tandem.
We spent a day riding a bicycle in the Yampa River. Steamboat Springs has a scenic trail along the river. " With all the rain of Colorado has had this year, the river was full and when we saw other kayaks and tubes River. The path allowed us to ride bikes safely with our children off the streets and traffic.
We stopped for ice cream in Mountain View Cleaning Car, located right in the bike lane. I know that sounds like a strange place for ice cream but they have great soft serve, as well as hot dogs and drinks smoothies. There are plenty of places to stop along the road like a park at the end. We had a great time, got a little exercise and saw the city for very little money.
The second day we visited the Old Town Hot Springs. This is an ideal place for a family to spend the day and is very reasonable. In addition to the seven pools, slides and a large shopping fitness, which also have a wonderful wading area for children. My 2-year-old loved it. If you search the coupons found in most accommodations and shopping, you'll find offers two for one slide and $ 2.00 adult ticket. If you want to eat while you do not also have a bar with hot dogs, pizza and other miscellaneous items. We spent most of our days here and had a great time. If you are sure to use sunscreen and the sun on high burns you faster.
There were many things to do in steamboat in the summer that we did this trip. Many of these activities are free or very accessible. Here is a brief list of some of the activities available:
Fish Creek Falls Hiking Kayaking and tubing on the Yampa River and a guided fishing tours Horse riding gondola rides to the summit of Steamboat Mountain Bowling Golf Ice Skating Strawberry Park Hot Springs
Trying to spend time with the family during these difficult difficult economic times. Steamboat Springs offers our family the opportunity to have a great time with family and save a lot of money doing it.
